Jo Wieland is the GoCulture Asia-Pacific Director and currently supplies assessment services alongside transition coaching and support to nearly every significant mission and social enterprise organisation in New Zealand. Our clients from corporate, humanitarian, education and government sectors confirm the need to prepare more effectively for life and work or study in a different culture. Lack of preparation leads to increased culture shock, disappointing outcomes and often early return.
About the Assessment and Programme
The GoCulture Assessment© is an online tool that identifies 16 intercultural factors and 5 personal styles that predict up to 85% of the task performance, relationship development and cultural adaptation challenges associated with cultural relocation.
Step One – Online Assessment
When you engage GoCulture Asia-Pacific, you’ll be provided a link to the online tool. On completion of the assessment (approximately 15min) the individualised online report provides instant feedback, identifying readiness for new cultures and challenges to be addressed.
Step Two – Personal strategy and coaching session
You will then meet with Jo, face to face or in an online meeting for a personal coaching and strategy session to help offer solutions to reduce culture shock, develop relationships and enhance task effectiveness.
Step Three – Optional reporting to organisations
If the organisation you are preparing to move cross-culturally with requires it, GoCulture can provide a brief or detailed report to the organisation. You will have access to that report and it is completed after your personal coaching session.
Step Four – Optional coaching and support post-relocation, furlough support
The support and services that Jo offers alongside GoCulture doesn’t have to end there. You can have additional support while you relocate and as a health check and ongoing assessment while you are living and working overseas using online tools. Jo also provides spiritual direction, counselling and supervision services to help you engage and develop.
The GoCulture Assessment© scale has been developed over 10 years and continually refined with reference to the best research and results from GoCulture clients in 32 countries across Asia, Australasia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, North and South America, provides a reliable indicator of intercultural readiness and identifies preparation needs.
